Otto Heinrich von Pfalz-Sulzbach (* July 22, 1556 in Amberg ; † August 29, 1604 in Sulzbach ), also Ottheinrich II. , Was Duke and Count Palatine of Sulzbach .

Life

Otto Heinrich was the third son of Duke and Count Palatinate Wolfgang von Zweibrücken (1526–1569) from his marriage to Anna (1529–1591), daughter of Landgrave Philip I of Hesse . In his youth Otto Heinrich lived at the Danish court for five years, where he became a close friend of King Frederick II of Denmark .

Wolfgang gave the Duchy of Sulzbach to his son Otto Heinrich after his last will. Initially for 12 years under the tutelage of his older brother Philipp Ludwig , from 1582 he resided at Sulzbach Castle , which he had extensively renovated by the architect Adam Schwarz. In his country Otto Heinrich took care of the state administration conscientiously, founded parishes, schools and a public library.

Otto Heinrich died in 1604 without a male heir. Sulzbach fell back to his eldest brother, the founder of the newer Neuburg line, Philipp Ludwig .

On November 25, 1582, in Stuttgart , he married Maria Dorothea von Württemberg (1559–1639), daughter of Duke Christoph von Württemberg , with whom he had the following children:
