Otto II (Hoya)

Otto II von Hoya (* 1271 ; † 1324 ) was the ruling Count of Hoya from 1313 to 1324 .

Otto was the son of Count Heinrich II von Hoya and Jutta von Ravensberg, daughter of Ludwig von Ravensberg . He married Ermengard von Holstein , a daughter of Adolf VI. Four descendants emerged from this connection:

Live and act

From 1290 to 1313 his older brother Gerhard II ruled of Hoya . When he died childless, Otto took over the government of the county. While Gerhard was still alive it was agreed that the county should be divided between Otto's sons Gerhard and Johann, which they did in 1345. In Otto's short reign, alliances were made with the Dukes of Braunschweig-Lüneburg , the Archdiocese of Bremen as well as the Counts of Oldenburg and the Counts of Diepholz .
