Otto III. (Braunschweig-Harburg)
Otto III. von Braunschweig-Lüneburg-Harburg (born March 20, 1572 in Harburg ; † August 4, 1641 in Harburg) was the owner of the lordship of Harburg .
Life
Otto was a son of Duke Otto II of Braunschweig-Harburg (1528-1603) from his second marriage to Hedwig (1535-1616), daughter of Count Enno II of East Friesland .
After the death of his brother Christoph in 1606, he and his brother Wilhelm August , who had ruled since his father's death, took over the government of Harburg. The dukes' reign is described as fraternal and amicable. On January 11, 1630, the brothers ceded all succession rights in the Duchy of Braunschweig to Christian von Braunschweig-Lüneburg in a contract , who compensated the brothers' debts, which amounted to almost 150,000 thalers.
Otto III. married on April 14, 1621 in Wolfenbüttel Hedwig (1580-1657), daughter of Duke Julius of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel . The marriage remained childless.
