Sergio Bonaldi (born September 7, 1978 in San Giovanni Bianco ) is a former Italian biathlete and has been skiing since the end of 2007 .

Career

biathlon

Sergio Bonaldi started as a sports soldier for the Centro Sportivo Esercito . In 1999 he took part in international races in Champex-Lac for the first time as part of the Biathlon European Cup and was 40th in an individual and 34th in a sprint race. 2001 followed in Oberhof the debut in the Biathlon World Cup , in which Bonaldi was 46th in a sprint. In 2005 he achieved his best result in the top series with a 38th place in a pursuit in Oberhof. The first international championship for the Italian was the 2001 European Biathlon Championships in Haute-Maurienne . Bonaldi was 42nd in the individual, 43rd in the sprint, 35th in the pursuit and won the bronze medal in the relay race with Theo Senoner , Helmuth Messner and Ivan Romanin behind the representatives from Germany and Poland. In 2002 in Kontiolahti the ranks 41 in the sprint, 44 in the pursuit and 11 in the relay were added, the Italian did not finish the individual. For the third time Bonaldi started 2003 in Forni Avoltri at the European Championships, where he was 30th in the individual, 47th in the sprint, 39th in the pursuit and with Paolo Longo , Devis Da Canal and Klaus Höllrigl season 12. This was followed by participation in the 2003 Summer Biathlon World Championships . Bonaldi started with Christian De Lorenzi , Ronald Carrara and Yuri Bradanini as the starting runners of the season that finished eighth. For the 2004 European Biathlon Championships in Minsk , the Italian was registered for the individual and the sprint, but did not start in either race. It was used again as part of an international championship at the Biathlon World Championships in 2005 in Hochfilzen , where it competed individually and reached 45th place. A year later at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games of Turin the highlight in Bonaldis career. At the competitions in Cesana San Sicario he was used in the sprint and was 66 there. The Biathlon European Cup 2005/2006 was also successful for the Italian. In Ridnaun , behind Sergei Bashkirow and Christoph Knie , he achieved a first podium finish in this racing series in a sprint. In Martell, he finished second behind Paolo Longo in another sprint, and at the end of the season he was also third again in a mass start in Gurnigel behind Frédéric Jean and Lionel Grebot . In the overall ranking he was with 258 points behind the outstanding overall European Cup winner of the season, Dmitri Jaroshenko and Loïs Habert in third place.

Cross-country skiing

Bonaldi has been in cross-country skiing since the end of 2007 and competes in the cross-country skiing marathon cup , alpine cup and made his debut in the roller ski world cup on June 26, 2008 . In the 2008 season he won the classic 12 km mountain run in Cesana / Sestriere and finished seventh in the overall World Cup. In 2008 he also won the 38 km classic at Toblach – Cortina . The 2009 season was mixed. Only at the World Cup in Oroslavje he was third in the 7 km mountain running freestyle. He finished twelfth in the overall standings and eleventh in the Cross-Country Marathon Cup. The 2010 season wasn't much better than the previous season either. His best placings were fourth, fifth and sixth. In the overall ranking he came in 17th place. At the end of the season, he finished 22nd in the cross-country skiing marathon cup. In the 2012 season he won the 10 km mountain run in Oroslavje, the 7 km mountain run in Bad Peterstal and the 10 km mountain run in Tripoli . At the 2013 Marathon Cup he won the Dolomitenlauf and the American Birkebeiner . He finished the marathon season in first place in the Cross-Country Marathon Cup . At the Rollerski World Championships 2013 in Bad Peterstal, he won gold in the 11 km classic mountain run. In February 2015 he won the American Birkebeiner for the second time.
