Otto Koch (Manager)

Otto Koch (born December 21, 1923 in Bensheim ; † April 19, 2011 ) was a German physicist and manager .

Life

After graduating from the classical languages Gymnasium in Darmstadt studied cooking in 1941 at the Technical University of Darmstadt physics and in 1948 was the work measuring the temperature distribution over the cross section of the wall-stabilized high-pressure mercury arc Dr. rer. nat. PhD .

Koch joined Bayer AG in Leverkusen in 1951 . He initially worked in the applied physics engineering department. In 1966 he became department director of the plastics and polyurethane application technology department. In 1970 he was appointed head of the central application technology department. As a representative of the board, he took over the technical support of the fiber division in 1970.

In 1972 Otto Koch was appointed to the Board of Management of Bayer AG and was responsible for the Africa and Middle East regions until his retirement in 1987 . At the same time he was chairman of the board's ecology committee and spokesman for the fiber division.

Koch was also involved as chairman of the environmental policy committee of the Federal Association of German Industry (BDI), as a board member of the technology and environment committee in the chemical industry association (VCI) and as a member of the environmental committee of the German Industry and Trade Conference (DIHT). From 1973 to 1975 Koch was President of the German Physical Society .
