Otto Krieg-Helbig

Otto Krieg-Helbig (born January 4, 1898 in Berlin , † October 28, 1976 in Potsdam ) was a German actor .

Life

The son of a police officer is born Otto Krieg in Berlin and will later rename himself to Krieg-Helbig. He received his artistic training from 1920 to 1922 at the Berliner Schauspielhaus , after which he worked on various stages in the city. In the 1930s he worked a lot in funk and got his first role offers in film. During the Second World War he was an actor in a front theater until he was engaged at the Silesian State Theater in Wroclaw . After the end of the war, he initially found a job at the Junge Bühne in Munich , from where he moved to Das Meininger Theater . After an episode in 1949/1950 at the theaters in Arnstadt / Rudolstadt , he returned to Meiningen, from there via Görlitz in 1956 to the Hans Otto Theater Potsdam , of which he was a permanent member until 1966. He then worked as a freelancer for the theater and film.

Otto Krieg-Helbig was married to the actress and painter Ursula Krieg-Helbig (born November 8, 1923, † June 11, 2007). His sons Peter Krieg-Helbig (1947–1983) and Michael Krieg-Helbig (born 1945) also became actors.

Otto Krieg-Helbig shares a grave with his wife Ursula and his son Peter in the cemetery at Babelsberger Goethestrasse 12-30. His memorial stone only says OKH instead of his name.
