Matti is a 6 year old boy who lives at home with his mother and their 1 year old twins. The father is in Berlin on business, his siblings are still too young to play and the mother has no time, so he is bored. He is not allowed to go to kindergarten because his mother is at home and he won't start school for a year. When Matti receives a note from a neighbor that is tied to a tree that someone is looking for a housekeeper all day, he comes up with the idea of ​​looking for a friend the same way. He also wants to nail such a note to the fence with Mr. Clasen. Mr. Clasen is training students in a nearby company in UTP , where he takes Matti with him. Although he is not yet allowed to work on the machines and only cleans parts, he likes the work. A friendship with Mr. Clasen slowly develops. His friend has a junkyard for old cars and here Matti discovers an old fire brigade. Mr. Clasen, who has just won the lottery, buys the scrap car from part of the winnings and has it brought to his garden. Here he and Matti want to put the device back in order while on vacation. Since the other children are always interested in watching through the garden fence, they are invited to help. The older students also take part actively during their holidays, which means that the fire brigade can now finish faster. During the first excursion, the children even put out a bank fire and thus save the life of a calf.
