Wolfgang Braumann

Wolfgang Braumann (born January 7, 1938 in Potsdam ; † April 8, 2017 ) was a German cameraman and painter .

Life

Braumann completed his studies at the University of Film and Television Potsdam in 1961 as a qualified cameraman and worked as a camera assistant and second cameraman for the DEFA studio for feature films. From 1966 to 1990 he was the camera operator in over 36 cinema and television productions, including numerous popular successes such as The Man Who Came After Grandma or Under the Pear Tree .

With reunification, like many of his colleagues, he became unemployed. Since 1991 he has worked as a freelance cameraman for public and private television stations and as a painter; in 2000, 2002 and 2003 he had exhibitions of his pictures in Potsdam .

Wolfgang Braumann was married to the costume designer Barbara Braumann; they had a son. The family lived in Potsdam.
