Otto Möller (resistance fighter)

Otto Möller (born April 5, 1888 , † April 14, 1945 ) was a German social democratic resistance fighter against National Socialism and victims of National Socialism .

Life

Möller came from a simple social background. After attending primary school, he learned the trade of a locksmith and found work in the Hamburg shipyard industry . He joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) and campaigned against the emerging fascism . After handing over power to the NSDAP , he continued his resistance illegally . In doing so he found a connection with the resistance group " Bästlein-Jacob-Abshagen ", which after the beginning of the Second World War a . a. Support for foreign forced laborersorganized. Möller was employed as a metal worker at the Blohm & Voss shipyard and provided such prohibited assistance. Because the Gestapo did not hide this, he was arrested and sentenced by a court to a prison sentence in the prison of Celle for “ favoring the enemy ” . When the Allied troops approached , the prison inmates were evacuated and deported to the Bützow-Dreibergen prison . Otto Möller died on this transport.

Honor

  • On the cemetery of Hamburg-Ohlsdorf a monument was three steles erected. The middle of these steles bears the name of Otto Möller on plate 14.
