Otto Munsterberg

Otto Münsterberg (born 1854 in Danzig , Prussia ; died 1915 in Danzig, German Reich ) was a German politician.

Life

Otto Münsterberg was a son of the timber merchant Moritz Münsterberg (1825–1880) and Rosalie Bernhardy. Among his siblings were the poverty scientist Emil Münsterberg (1855–1911), the psychologist Hugo Münsterberg (1863–1916) and the printer's owner Oskar Münsterberg (1865–1920). As the eldest son, Münsterberg took over his father's business in Langfuhr . He was appointed to the Commerce Council and appointed judge at the Commercial Court. He was involved in the community as a poor carer and became a member of the Gdańsk city council, in which he was elected deputy head of the city council.

From 1893 he was a member of the Liberal Association and the successor to the Progressive People's Party and belonged to the Prussian House of Representatives for the constituency of Danzig from 1903 to 1908 and from 1913 until his death . In parliament he spoke on questions of economic policy, education and universities as well as art policy.

Through his marriage to Charlotte Schirmacher (1861–) he was related by marriage to the women's rights activist Käthe Schirmacher , whom he supported financially.
