Otto Meissner (film producer)

Otto Meissner (born June 27, 1925 in Berlin ; † February 16, 2011 there ) was a German film and television producer .

Career

Immediately after completing his high school diploma in 1942/43, Meissner worked as a production manager at Terra Film . After the war he was taken over by Hamburger Real-Film in 1947 and began his post-war career in the same year as production manager for the film Arche Nora . Later he had a job in the same position at the production company Arion-Film. There, under his production management (together with Géza von Cziffra ), the music film Tanzende Sterne was made . From 1957, beginning with the Wolfgang Staudte production Madeleine and the Legionnaire , Meissner was hired as production manager.

In the 1950s he was u. a. participated in the production of the feature film Dogs, Do You Want to Live Forever and several films by Heinz Erhardt , including girls with poor memories . In 1963 he went to ZDF as main production manager for entertainment . During his tenure, shows such as Vergißmeinnicht with Peter Frankenfeld and The golden shot with Lou van Burg were created .

In 1967 Meissner founded his own production company "Novafilm", with which he produced numerous well-known television series and which he managed until 2004.

Meissner died on February 16, 2011 at the age of 85.
