A Bayer auf Rügen is a German television series that was produced by Novafilm Fernsehproduktion GmbH between 1992 and 1996 on behalf of Sat.1 .

action

The policeman Valentin Gruber (motto: "Even if the mountain is so steep, a little something is possible") is transferred from Miesbach in Bavaria to the island of Rügen . He leaves his girlfriend Heidi and his grandfather in his homeland. Now he has to solve criminal cases in his new home, with his new colleagues Hanna Gernrich and Konstantin Künath at his side. In the course of the series, however, he lets himself be transported back to Bavaria due to homesickness, but regularly remains loyal to his island as a tourist.

The television series Ein Bayer auf Rügen was shown from 1993 to 1997 on the private broadcaster Sat.1.

After the beginning of the 21st century with Der Bergdoktor (also produced by Sat.1 and later broadcast by ZDF ) and Ein Schloss am Wörthersee (produced by RTLplus and later broadcast in some ARD programs) there were already two series of German private broadcasters in public service were shown on television, was until September 2003, from April Ein Bayer auf Rügen in first to see. Trivia

  • The series is one of the few productions by a private broadcaster that was also broadcast on public television ( ARD 2003, later also third-party programs ).
  • The deputy, later State Secretary Dr. Egmond Meisinger ( Michael Lerchenberg ) is not only similar to the former Bavarian Prime Minister Edmund Stoiber because of his appearance and his first name, which sounds similar . In the episode “ Alone Against All ” the editor shows Ziegler an autograph card from Stoiber when Meisinger asked which picture they would print of him. For many years Michael Lerchenberg also played Edmund Stoiber at the strong beer tasting on Munich's Nockherberg.
  • The Oberleitenhof, newly built in 1980, served as the backdrop for the “Aiblinger Hof” in Schliersee . The history of the farm goes back to the year 1552.
  • The Middelhagen restaurant, an inn built around 1451 as a village inn, served as a backdrop for Wiebke Gernrich's “Störtebeker” until the episode “ The Foundling ”.
  • The series was discontinued due to loss of ratings. In an interview with Focus, Wolfgang Fierek stated that the then SAT.1 managing director Fred Kogel caused the number of viewers to decrease by changing the broadcast slot.
