André Bauer (born January 31, 1968 in Görlitz ) is a German musical actor and theater actor .

Life

In 1986, during his ten-year sports fencing career , he received his first engagement at the Musiktheater Görlitz. A year later he began his vocal studies in Dresden at the Carl-Maria von Weber Academy of Music . In 1989 he fled the GDR . In 1990 he completed private musical training in Frankfurt am Main .

Due to his work as a sport fencer, he was employed in Berlin as a fight coordinator for the musical The Hunchback of Notre Dame . He also worked as a fencing choreographer in a production of the play Romeo and Juliet in Neu-Ulm .

Bauer sang Emperor Franz Joseph in the musical Elisabeth in Essen and in the Viennese production directed by Harry Kupfer from 2003-2005. He continued to sing the role of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's father Leopold Mozart in the musical Mozart! . From September 2006 he played and sang Frank Crawley in Rebecca at the Raimund Theater in Vienna . In March 2008 he played the title role in the musical Sweeney Todd in Mistelbach . In the same year he played the role of Eje in Tutankhamun at the world premiere at the Gutenstein Festival . He played Pontius Pilate several times in the all-Easter Viennese concert performance of Jesus Christ Superstar . In spring 2009 he was seen in the role of Morell in St. Gallen in the musical The Count of Monte Christo at the side of Thomas Borchert . In the autumn of 2010, Bauer played the role of Eje again in the English-language performance of Tutankhamun in Cairo and Alexandria in Egypt .

As captain and cover for the role Axel Staudach he was since March 2010 in the Vienna Raimund Theater in the musical I have never been on stage in New York . From autumn 2011, Bauer played the role of Frank Crawley in Rebecca again , but this time in St. Gallen . In the summer of 2012 André Bauer was again on stage in the role of Gustav Klimt in the musical of the same name, but now on the occasion of the Klimt Year in the Künstlerhaus Vienna . From February 2013 he played in the German premiere of the musical Naturally Blond at the Ronacher in Vienna ; he was hired there as a walk-in cover for the roles of Dad / Winthrop and Professor Callahan. From April 2016 he took part in the world premiere of Don Camillo & Peppone in St. Gallen and is also part of the cast of the musical at the Ronacher in Vienna.
