Otto Rothe

Otto Rothe (born November 6, 1924 in Samonienen ; † January 9, 1970 in Bad Reichenhall ) was a German military rider. He won the silver medal in the team classification of the eventing competition at the Olympic Games in 1952 and 1956 .

In 1952 he rode Trux from Kamax ; Together with Wilhelm Büsing and Klaus Wagner , the team was almost 14 points behind the victorious Swedes.

In 1956 August Lütke-Westhues rode Trux von Kamax . Otto Rothe on Sissi and Klaus Wagner on PrinzeB completed the team, which was 120 points behind the victorious British.

On October 27, 1952, he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf for his athletic achievements.

Rothe was a collector of books on horse breeding, especially Trakehner breeding. His collection is now in the holdings of the German Horse Museum in Verden. According to him, in Munich, district of Alt-Riem , the Otto-Rothe-Straße named.
