Otto Schlegelmilch
Otto Schlegelmilch (born June 24, 1903 in Albrechts ; † after 1974) was a German foreman , trade unionist and politician ( SED ). From 1958 to 1971 he was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR .
Life
Schlegelmilch, the son of a worker, attended elementary school in Albrechts and Mäbendorf . From 1917 to 1920 he completed an apprenticeship in tool lathe at the Simson factory in Suhl . After completing his apprenticeship, he was initially unemployed. In 1920 he became a member of the KJVD and, as a 17-year-old machine gunner of the Red Workers' Army, took part in the fight against the Kapp putschists . He found work again as a cylindrical grinder and fitter in the Simson factory, and in 1928 became a member of the KPD and the DMV . During the time of fascism he worked in the Red Aid . After the Second World War he became a member of the KPD again, joined the Free German Trade Union Federation (FDGB) in 1945 and joined the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) in 1946 .
From 1949 to 1958 he was a member of the community council and council of the Dietzhausen community . From 1949 to 1955 he was chairman of the company union management (BGL) at VEB vehicle and equipment factory Simson Suhl. From 1955 he worked as a foreman in the hunting rifle production in the Simson factory. From 1958 to 1962 he was a member of the Works Party Organization (BPO) of the plant. In November 1958 he was elected to the People's Chamber with the mandate of the FDGB, to which he belonged until 1971. From 1958 to 1967 he was a member of the Constitutional and Legal Committee of the People's Chamber. From 1959 he was a member of the FDGB district committee in Suhl .
Schlegelmilch last lived in Dietzhausen, was married and the father of two children. As a 71-year-old, he took part in the castle tour in the Erfurt district as a cyclist in July 1974 as part of the “Rush with Mile Movement” .
