Otto Würsch

Otto Würsch (born August 8, 1908 in Lucerne ; † December 23, 1962 in Kilchberg ZH ) was a Swiss musician , composer and conductor .

Würsch grew up in Lucerne as the son of the mason polisher and trumpeter Otto Kaspar Würsch (from Emmetten NW) and Giovanna Maria Torelli (from Cerentino TI). He received his theoretical training at the Lucerne Music Academy. As a musician, he played the piston , trombone and bass violin in various Swiss music ensembles , including the Lucerne chapel Sebastian Kaufmann . With the Swiss clarinetist and saxophonist Kaspar Muther , he made records with the Ländlerkapelle Muther & Würsch on His Master's Voice .

In 1934 Würsch became principal horn of the Zurich Radio Orchestra, which ten years later was affiliated to the Tonhalle Orchestra as a theater formation . From 1943 to 1953 he was appointed to the Lucerne Festival Weeks.

In 1947 Otto Würsch took over the musical direction of the corps music of the Zurich canton police and founded Kleinformation Original Freudenberger Dorfmusik in 1958 , for which he composed his own pieces. In 1953 he took over the musical direction of Harmonie Wädenswil until his death .

Numerous compositions testify to his wide range of skills. In particular, his Polizischt Wäckerli march became known.
