Otto Wacek
Otto Wacek (born April 10, 1893 in Brixen ; † July 9, 1983 in Vienna ) was an Austrian conductor and composer .
Wilhelm Wacek's son studied at the Vienna Music Academy from 1911 to 1916 (with Richard Heuberger and Eusebius Mandyczewski) and privately with Joseph Marx . Under the direction of Felix Weingartner , he was Kapellmeister at the Vienna Volksoper . He also conducted at various Italian opera houses. With his own entertainment orchestra he made music in the Volksgarten restaurant and in the Kursalon. From 1934 Kapellmeister of the IR, s No. 5 (formerly No. 84), 1938 with IR No. 4 "Hoch- und Deutschmeister". From 1943 military service as an officer in Styria. 1947–1968 head of the fire department chapel of the city of Vienna. In addition, music theory teacher and piano teacher at the Volkshochschule Wien-Brigittenau .
His final resting place is in the Vienna Central Cemetery (69B-10).
