Philipp Heinrich Hubert Otto von Groote (born February 7, 1883 in Trier ; † July 31, 1943 in Bingen am Rhein ) was a German landscape , hunting , animal , still life and interior painter and etcher from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Von Groote, offspring of the Groote family and son of the royal forest master Joseph von Groote, studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . There were Willy Spatz , Fritz Roeber and Peter Janssen the Elder his teachers. Von Groote worked as a freelance painter in Düsseldorf. Study trips took him to the Schorfheide , the Eifel , the Harz and the Westerwald . From 1907 he sent the Munich Glass Palace and exhibitions in Berlin , Cologne and Düsseldorf. From 1905 to 1943 he was a member of the Malkasten artists' association . He was also a member of the Allgemeine Deutsche Kunstgenossenschaft and the association for the organization of art exhibitions in Düsseldorf. Von Groote's work was influenced by an impressionistic conception of art. Through his sister Agnes Maria (1875–1948) he became brother-in-law of the painter Max Volkers in 1905 .
