Otto von Lilienfeld

Otto Gustav von Lilienfeld (* September 10th July / September 22nd  1805 greg. In Reval ; † March 15th July / March 27th  1896 greg. In Saage ), Herr auf Saage, Sicklecht, Allo, Rappel and Angern, was a German-Baltic manor owner, lawyer and president of the Estonian Evangelical-Lutheran consistory.

Life

Lilienfeld studied law at the University of Dorpat from 1824 and then took over the administration of the goods in Saage, Angern, Rappel, Sicklecht and Allo (Estonia). In 1831 he became a knightly auscultant, in 1832 a knighthood secretary, in 1842 a knighthood captain and in 1846 an Estonian district administrator. At the same time he served as curator of the cathedral school in Reval from 1842 to 1861 and from 1857 to 1863 as president of the Estonian aristocratic credit fund. From 1868 to 1879 he was President of the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Consistory. In 1884 he became President of the Estonian Higher Regional Court.

Origin and family

Otto Gustav von Lilienfeld came from the long established noble family von Lilienfeld (III. House Saage). His father was the knighthood captain and Baltic district administrator Georg Woldemar von Lilienfeld (1772-1835), Lord of Saage and Sicklecht, who was married to Gustaviana Christine von Dellingshausen (1765-1820), heiress of Saage. Otto Gustav married in 1831 Gustava Marie von Benckendorff (1811-1892), a daughter of the Estonian knight governor, district administrator and civil governor of Estonia Paul Friedrich von Benckendorff , their descendants were:
