Ottokar
Ottokar (also Otokar ) is a male given name .
Origin and meaning
The name comes from the Germanic Old High German and is made up of ot ('possession, wealth', as in Odo / Otto , Otfried ) and a not very clear second syllable. The latter can also be found in Gundaker . Both names seem to be native to the south-east of the language area.
An ancient spelling is Odowakar , in Old High German glosses Otacher , in the Hildebrandslied in the form Otachre . An early Latin form is then Odo (v) acer or Odovacrius .
