Our Time Is Up is a 2004 American short film .

Dr. Stern, a psychologist, leads a well-ordered life. He gives advice to his patients after listening carefully and assuring them that everything will turn out for the best in the foreseeable future. Then he gets a call from his oncologist who tells him that he only has a few weeks to live. Dr. Stern changes his treatment method. It no longer wants to relieve patients of their problems in the foreseeable future, but rather immediately. He tries with ruthless honesty.

Awards

In 2006 the film was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Short Film category.

The film won awards at the Aspen Shortsfest with the Jury Award, at the Hamptons International Film Festival with the Audience Award , at the Montreal Comedy Festival "Just For Laughs" with the Audience Award and the Portland International Film Festival with the Audience Award .

There was only a very small budget available for the production of the film, the staff and actors worked free of charge. The shooting lasted two days and took place in Pearlstein's parents' apartment.

The film premiered on October 8, 2004 at the Mill Valley Film Festival .

It is available on DVD ( A Collection of 2005 Academy Award Nominated Short Films ) and on the iTunes Store .
