Outrage is a Japanese thrash metal band from Nagoya that was formed in 1982.

history

The band was formed in 1982 by Yosuke Abe (electric guitar), Yoshihiro Yasui (electric bass), Shinya Tange (drums) and Kazutoyo Ito (vocals). Together they initially played a few cover versions of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal in a few clubs . In 1986 Ito left the band and was replaced by Naoki Hashimoto. In 1987 they released their first EP called Outrage . The debut album then followed in 1988 with the name Black Clouds . In the next two years, other albums followed with Blind to Reality and The Great Blue . In 1991 they recorded the next album The Final Day with producer Stefan Kaufmann and released it that same year.

In 1992 the band appeared as the inaugural band for Pantera's first tour of Japan, along with Corrosion of Conformity and GBH . The next album Spit followed in 1993. In 1995, Life Until Deaf, the sixth studio album, followed in 1997 with Who We Are the seventh. In 1999 the band separated from singer Naoki Hashimoto. In 2000 the band founded their label 30min. Records and the remaining three members decided to continue with the three of them instead of looking for a new singer. After they released the EPs Volume One and Play Loud in 2001 and 2002, their eighth studio album was released at 24-7 in 2002. To celebrate the band's 20th anniversary, the 2003 compilation Nagoya Noise Pollution was made Orchestra released, the next album called Cause for Pause was released the following year.

Singer Naoki Hashimoto returned to the band in 2007 and went on tour with the band and performed with them at various concerts and festivals. In 2008, The Years of Rage was released, a CD and DVD that included recordings from the 2007 tour. In the same year the compilation Awakening 2008 appeared on the newly recorded pieces from the albums The Final Day and Life Until Deaf were included.

Together with producer Fredrik Nordström , the band went to Studio Fredman in September 2009 and released the album Outrage in November of the same year after their appearance at the Loud Park Festival . The album was the first studio album in 12 years with singer Hashimoto. The band went on tour in early 2011 and was awarded the Aichi Prefecture Cultural Art Prize in March for their continuous musical commitment in their hometown of Nagoya. It was also of Takayuki Yamada a documentary called Shine on Travelogue of Outrage added, this was in Tokyo broadcast and Nagoya and published in March on DVD.

style

Characteristic for the style of the band is the simple structure of the songs and the high speed of the drums. The band is described as a mix of Grave Digger , Rage and Danzig styles . Despite their high level of aggressiveness, the songs are kept melodic.
