Nicolae Ovidiu Herea (born March 26, 1985 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian football player . The midfielder has been under contract with Pandurii Târgu Jiu since summer 2016 .

Career

Ovidiu Herea's career began in his hometown of Bucharest with FC Național Bucharest . On August 16, 2003 he came there for his first assignment in Divizia A (today League 1 ). After he was rarely used in his first two seasons, he was able to develop into a regular player during the 2005/06 season . In the following season he got his first goals, but Național rose from League 1 at the end of the season.

After relegation, Herea moved to local rivals and reigning cup winners Rapid Bucharest in 2007 . After a third place in the 2007/08 season , however, the club fell back into midfield and has been fighting for a connection to the top of the league ever since. In 2011 he was able to qualify for the Europa League again with Rapid in fourth place . He himself contributed eleven goals, which means the best goal rate of his career. He was able to repeat this success a year later . At the same time, he and his team made it to the 2012 cup final , but lost 1-0 to Dinamo Bucharest there .

In 2013 Herea moved to FC Sion in the Swiss Super League . He experienced the 2015 cup win from the stands. In the summer of 2015 he switched to Skoda Xanthi , but terminated his contract in January 2016. He was without a club for half a year before the Romanian first division side Pandurii Târgu Jiu signed him .

National team

Herea played two international matches for the Romanian national soccer team . He made his debut on September 3, 2010 in the European Championship qualifier against Albania when he came on for Răzvan Cociș in the 77th minute . After a break of almost a year, he made his second appearance on August 10, 2011 against San Marino .
