Owhango is a small village in the Ruapehu District of the Manawatu-Wanganui region on the North Island of New Zealand .
geography
The village is located around 17 km southeast of Taumarunui and around 37 km west of Turangi in the valley of the Whakapapa River , which flows east of the village. The New Zealand State Highway 4 runs through Owhango and connects the village with Taumarunui in the northwest and the Village National Park in the south. The North Island Main Trunk Railway also runs right through the village.
The 39th parallel is on the southern part of the village.

At the 2013 census, the village had 177 inhabitants, 6.3% less than at the 2006 census.
