Oyrarbakki [ ˈɔiɹaɹˌbaʰtʃɪ ] ( Danish : Ørebakke ) is a place in the Faroe Islands on the west coast of Eysturoy .

Entrance

Oyrarbakki is located directly south of the bridge over the Sund ( Sundini ) to the main island Streymoy . The local area was not settled until 1924, making the place the youngest in the municipality. The school center of Oyrarbakki, attended by 120 pupils from 7 municipalities, is significant. Oyrarbakki is also the center of the Sunda kommuna , which is the seat of the municipal administration ( kommunuskrivstovan ) here. There is also a post office on site.

The 1973 built "um Streymin" bridge over the sound and the Norðskálatunnilin , built in 1976 , made the area between Oyrarbakki and Norðskáli a traffic junction, which has contributed to the further development of the area through the subsequent settlement of companies.
