Péter Abay (born May 13, 1962 in Budapest ) is a former Hungarian saber fencer .

Péter Abay was world champion with the team in 1991 in his native Budapest and in 1993 in Essen . In addition, he was runner-up in the individual world championship in 1991. At the European Championships in 1991 he won the title with the team in Vienna , while he finished second in the individual. At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona , he only started in the team competition. On the way to the final, the Hungarian team was only defeated in the preliminary round by the United team , which they also met in the battle for the Olympic victory. Once again, Hungary was left behind, this time 5: 9, so that Abay received the silver medal together with Imre Bujdosó , Csaba Köves , György Nébald and Bence Szabó .

His father-in-law Ferenc Török is a two-time Olympic champion in modern pentathlon .
