The PGO P22 Concept is a design study by the French automobile manufacturer PGO Automobiles , which was presented to the world for the first time in 2007 at the 62nd International Motor Show for Passenger Cars in Frankfurt am Main .

With its presentation at the world's largest automobile show, the previously almost unknown automobile manufacturer pursued the goal of increasing its level of awareness. In order to achieve this goal, a vehicle was created that reproduces the then current design elements of the brand in a contemporary body. The craftsmen created a sporty coupé by hand , which, with its lush curves and structured lines , should compete with the high-volume models Daihatsu Copen , Mazda MX-5 , Volkswagen Eos and Wiesmann Roadster . The P2 chassis was specially developed for the P22 Concept . The French company worked with the tire manufacturer Manufacture Française des Pneumatiques Michelin to develop it . PGO also used power steering and an automatic transmission in one of their vehicles for the first time , which has been part of the standard equipment of the Speedster II since 2009.

The first large-scale production of PGO was officially in the planning stage. In order to keep production costs low, the model was designed according to the so-called modular principle . A roadster should be created in the construction phase or, if necessary, in a later conversion of the vehicle by replacing certain components . However, contrary to expectations, the neo-retro style of the vehicle received a negative conclusion in the internet forums , which in connection with a lack of human and financial resources, triggered by the exit of several investors , ultimately led to the project being discontinued.

Despite the contemporary design, the P22 Concept had been compared to the aging Porsche replicas called PGO 356 Classic and PGO Speedster II . It should also be noted that PGO was unable to obtain suitable engines for the model until the premiere. The design study at the IAA had no engine. At the start of the rejected series production, the vehicles should have been powered by a 206 kW six-cylinder V-engine .
