1- phosphatidylinositol -4,5-bisphosphat- phosphodiesterase4 is an enzyme which, when people through the PLCB4 - gene is encoded.

function

The protein encoded by this gene catalyzes the formation of inotisol-1,4,5-trisphosphate and diacylglycerol from phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate . This response uses calcium as a cofactor and plays an important role in the intracellular transduction of many extracellular signals in the retina . Two transcript variants that code for different isoforms were found for this gene .

Up-regulation of PLCB4 is associated with an unfavorable prognosis in children with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and could therefore act as a potential prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target for AML.
