The PSD Bank Rhein-Ruhr eG is a consultative direct bank for private clients based in Dusseldorf . It is the largest German PSD bank in the PSD banking association and an important player in the Düsseldorf financial center . The bank emerged from the oldest self-help facility of Deutsche Post, the Post, Savings and Loans Association, founded in 1872, and is organized as a cooperative.

history

On January 4, 1872, an association was founded in Düsseldorf as one of a total of 21 post, savings and advance payment associations. Only civil servants and employees of the Post could become customers or members. Like the others, this "advance payment association" was renamed in 1903 as Post-Savings and Loan Associations (PSpDV).

In 1998 the associations opened up to all private customers and also changed their legal form to registered cooperatives (eG); the name was changed to PSD Bank. The PSD Bank Rhein-Ruhr eG emerged from a merger of the institutes in Düsseldorf and Dortmund in 2003. It thus became the largest of the 14 German PSD banks.
