Pablo Edson Barrera Acosta (born June 21, 1987 in Tlalnepantla , Edo. De México ) is a Mexican football player who can be used both in attacking midfield and in attack. Since 2016 he has been under contract with UNAM Pumas in his home country .

He made his debut in the Mexican Primera División on November 19, 2005 in an away game of the Pumas at the UANL Tigres , which the hosts decided 3-1 in their favor.

For the 2010/11 season Barrera moved to the English Premier League club West Ham United , where he signed a four-year contract. There he could not prevail, however, and was awarded to the Spanish first division club Real Saragossa a year later . Even after the loan deal, Barrera could not assert himself in London, so he switched to CD Cruz Azul in the summer of 2012 .

National team

Barrera took part in the 2007 Junior World Cup in Canada , where he made it with the team to the quarterfinals and scored two goals in five games. Barrera completed his first international appearance in the jersey of the Mexican national team in a friendly match played on October 17, 2007, which Mexico lost 3-2 to Guatemala . He was also part of the squad that won the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup in the USA.

In the summer of 2010 he was part of the team for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa , where he made three appearances.

He scored his three international goals in the games against Nicaragua (2-0) on July 5, 2009 and Haiti (4-0) on July 19, 2009 as part of the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2009, which the Mexicans won, as well as in a game on 24 February 2010 played friendly against Bolivia , which was won 5-0.
