Pablo Cavallero , full name Pablo Oscar Cavallero Rodríguez , (born April 13, 1974 in Lomas de Zamora ) is a former Argentine football goalkeeper .

Player career

From the 1994/95 season to 1997/98 the 1.84 meter tall goalkeeper Cavallero was at the Argentine club Vélez Sársfield in goal and played 15 games across seasons. During the Copa Libertadores in 1994 , which his club won under coach Carlos Bianchi , he was substitute goalkeeper behind José Luis Chilavert . He then went to Unión de Santa Fe and was used there 34 times in 1998/99. In 199/200, Espanyol Barcelona was his employer. He has played 26 games in the Primera División for the Catalans. It followed in the seasons 2000/01 to 2003/04 a career station at the Spanish club Celta Vigo . After 121 completed games and after he received the Trofeo Zamora as the best goalkeeper in the league in the 2002/2003 season , he moved to UD Levante . He was used there 43 times between the 2004/05 and 2007/08 seasons. He then dissolved his contract with the Spanish and in August 2008 he joined the Uruguayan club Club Atlético Peñarol for a year. With the "Aurinegros" he played 14 or 15 first division games in the 2008/09 season, depending on the sources.

National team

In 1996 he won silver with the Argentine team at the Olympic football tournament . He took part with the Albiceleste in the 1998 and 2002 World Championships and in the 2004 Copa America . While he was not used in 1998, he was on the field in all three games in the preliminary round in 2002. From 1996 to 2004 Cavallero was in goal for the Argentine national team a total of 26 times .

Coaching

At least in October 2014 Cavallero coached the goalkeepers of Estudiantes de La Plata . He has been a goalkeeping coach at CA Independiente since October 2015 at the latest .
