Pablo Hernán Gómez (born December 20, 1977 in the province of Mendoza , Argentina , † January 29, 2001 in La Manga , Hidalgo , Mexico ) was an Argentine football player on the position of a striker .
Life
Gómez began his career in the youth division of his home club Huracán Las Heras and signed his first professional contract in 1996 with the second division CD Godoy Cruz . A year later he moved to the Argentinos Juniors in the first division and made his debut in a memorable home game against the Boca Juniors , which was won 4-2 and in which he scored a goal himself.
In January 1998 he moved to Monarcas Morelia in the Mexican league , where he was first used on January 11, 1998 in a goalless home game against the UNAM Pumas .
After the Tiburones Rojos Veracruz were relegated to the second division in the summer of 1998 , Gómez was loaned to the club from Veracruz for a half season. For the second half of the same season (1998/99) Gómez was committed by CF Pachuca , with whom he won the Torneo Invierno in 1999 . It was also the first championship title of the Tuzos , where Gómez spent more time than at his previous clubs.
His last first division for the Tuzos he scored on January 11, 2001 in a home game against Club Necaxa , which ended 1: 1. He played his last game on January 28, 2001 in a home game against CD Irapuato , which was won 2-0.
The evening of the following day, Gómez had a car accident on the way back from Querétaro to Pachuca in La Manga , in which he and his wife Mónica González were killed.
