Pablo Paolo Kilian
Pablo Paolo Kilian (born August 28, 1984 in Hamburg ) is a German pianist , sound artist , composer and arranger . He lives and works in Leipzig .
Life
From the age of five Kilian received continuous piano lessons , which continued with various teachers until 2002. These lessons included, among other things, composition lessons with Katajina Stubienski and improvisation with the Sergiu Celibidache student Florian Noack .
Works
As is characteristic of the contemporary avant-garde , the concept of work has developed over time in favor of a form of open work of art (in the sense of Umberto Eco ) with Kilian as well - as a deliberate break with the classical tradition of composing. In 2006 Kilian founded the sound laboratory different-records in Hamburg , which deals with the experimental setting of moving images and led to productive encounters with a large number of freelance filmmakers , including the experimental filmmaker Werner Nekes .
Main work
Kilian's main work is the sound installation with the programmatic title Metamorphosen, alluding to the improvisational . It is performed in a changing musical line-up, sometimes as a duo (Pablo Paolo Kilian, piano and Tim Vollmann, keys & synthesizer), sometimes as a trio (Pablo Paolo Kilian, piano; Pierre Noack, cello; Uwe Martin, drums), and linked to the light installation by Melanie Bleckert, whose projection technique 'translates' Kilian's music into flowing, constantly transforming imagery.
The sound installation Metamorphoses was premiered in Hamburg in 2000 , in the Elbchaussee 366 theater hall, and has been performed at a number of festivals since then:
