Communities Seedorf , Attinghausen

The Palanggenbach is a 5.5 km long left tributary of the Reuss between the communities of Seedorf and Attinghausen in the Swiss canton of Uri .

course

The stream rises in the Distleren area below the Brunnistock in the uppermost section of the Gitschital , which is also known as Palanggental in older sources . Almost along its entire course, the brook forms the municipal boundary between Seedorf and Attinghausen. The source is in Attinghausen and a short section in the upper reaches in Seedorf.

In the narrow valley, the Palanggenbach takes in numerous, but short and in some cases only water-bearing side streams that flow from the high erosion channels and the wooded valley flanks.

tourism

The gorge in the middle section of the stream is occasionally visited for canyoning.

Natural hazards

After storms, the Palanggenbach repeatedly leads to strong floods and causes debris flows on its lower course in the Seedorf area. This is why the canton of Uri has had a large sediment collector with a sorting block in the lower reaches between the villages and up to the confluence with the Reuss in the so-called `` Reuss Valley '' since 1961 and especially after the heavy flood of 1977 Palanggenschachen side embankments and block sleepers set up. The mouth of the Palanggenbach was widened after 1987.
