Palle Huld (born August 2, 1912 in Hellerup ; † November 26, 2010 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish adventurer, writer and actor , who is considered the model for the comic character "Tim" in the comic series Tintin by Hergé .

biography

In 1928, in a competition for the 100th birthday of Jules Verne in the daily newspaper Politiken, Huld won first prize and thus, like Jules Verne's fictional character Phileas Fogg in Journey around the world in 80 days, a journey around the world by ship, train and automobile. When he returned to Copenhagen after his 44-day trip around the world , the then 16-year-old was welcomed by 20,000 enthusiastic people. This journey, which Huld himself described in his book Jorden rundt i 44 dage med Palle (Around the world in 44 days with Palle), which has been translated into eleven languages , became the basis for the comic figure "Tim" in the comic series Tim published by the Belgian Hergé and Struppi . Then he became a member of the Eventyrernes Klub , an association for globetrotters .

After a subsequent study in Canada from 1928 to 1931 and studied at the Royal Theater School, he began his acting career in 1934 with his debut at the Royal Theater ( Det Kongelige Teater ) in the Shakespeare - play Twelfth Night .
