history
With other units of the NVA , which was dissolved on October 2, 1990, the 7th MotSchützenregiment was transferred to the Bundeswehr with German reunification on October 3, 1990. As part of the restructuring of the Bundeswehr agreed in the two plus four contract , the 7th MotSchützenregiment was dissolved on March 27, 1991.
At the same time, units of the Homeland Security Brigade 37 were put into service in the structure of the then new army structure. These consisted of the Panzergrenadierbataillon 371, the mobilization-dependent Panzergrenadierbataillon 372 with few permanent personnel in peacetime and mainly entrusted with the training of non-commissioned officers, as well as from the independent Panzerjäger Company 370. In June 1996 the Panzergrenadier Company Battalion 372 and the Panzerjägerkompanie 370 were disbanded. At the same time, as part of an appeal to rename the 371 Jäger Battalion on June 19, 1996, on the occasion of the 475th anniversary of the sponsored town of Marienberg, the honorary name of Marienberger Jäger was awarded by the mayor and the flag ribbon " Jäger Battalion 371" was awarded by the Federal Minister of Defense, Volker Rühe . At the same time, there was a restructuring of the Panzergrenadierbataillon 371 into the Jägerbataillon 371 ( JgBtl 371 ). This was then converted into a Jäger Battalion of the Crisis Reaction Forces (KRK) in 1997 . In July 2007 the battalion was renamed back to Panzergrenadierbataillon 371. It is the Coleur troop part of the inactive Panzergrenadierbataillon 909 .
From January 1, 2015 to January 31, 2016, the battalion provided the core of the German portion of the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (the NATO Response Force ). 2017 became part of the 2nd rotation at NATO Battlegroup Lithuania .
