Paolo di Giovanni Fei (* 1345 probably in San Quirico d'Orcia , † 1411 in Siena ) was an Italian painter of the School of Siena .

Life

The first written documents attest to membership in the Council of the Republic of Siena in 1369. The first works signed and dated by him date from 1381. He has been in the town's register of painters since 1389. From 1395 to 1410 he was listed in the register of cathedral painters in Siena. His main work as a painter of frescoes is in the chapel of the sacristy of the Chiesa di Sant'Agostino church in Siena. He probably learned to paint from Bartolo di Fredi . He himself is considered to be the teacher of Stefano di Giovanni Sassetta .
