Paragould is a town in Greene County in the US -amerikanischen State Arkansas with 23,100 inhabitants (2004) and the seat of the County administration ( County Seat ). The urban area has a size of 79.8 km².
The place was created in 1882 at the intersection of two railway lines and was officially registered as a municipality on March 3, 1883. The name Paragould originated from the composition of the names of two railway entrepreneurs, Jay Gould and JW Paramore. In the beginning, timber production was the main branch of the city's economy, but in the course of further development this gave way more and more in favor of the establishment of factories.
