Jeanne Carmen
Jeanne Carmen (* 4. August 1930 in Paragould , Arkansas ; † 20th December 2007 ) was an American '50s pin-up and later a B-Movie - Actress .
life and work
Her pictures graced the covers of dozens of magazines. As a Model for golf clothes she met Jimmy Demaret know that their great talent for playing golf immediately recognized and within six months she was a professional trick golfer and his girlfriend.
She made her acting debut on Broadway in 1948 when she was nominated for a role in burlesque with Bert Lahr . Fans of horror films remember her for her role in the 1959 film The Monster of Piedras Blancas . Well-known films in which she received other supporting roles were Diana Barrymore's Too Much Too Soon in 1958 and the Stooges film A Merry Mix-up in 1957 .
In Hollywood she was friends with many celebrities including Frank Sinatra , Elvis Presley , Lex Barker , Jerry Lewis , Dean Martin , Errol Flynn , Clark Gable and John F. Kennedy. Marilyn Monroe was her neighbor on Doheny Drive and her most famous friend and companion.
After Marilyn's death, she was threatened by Johnny Roselli , who worked for the Chicago Mafia boss Sam Giancana . She saw her life in danger, withdrew from Hollywood, fled to Scottsdale, Arizona, and lived incognito for over a decade : dyed her platinum blonde hair brunette, never mentioned her showbizz career, married, raised three children, and led a quiet life.
Based on the friendship with Monroe, some documentaries were shot.
Carmen died of malignant lymphoma in December 2007 at the age of 77 .
