Parin mountain
The Pariner Berg is a 72 meter high elevation in Groß Parin . On it is the Bismarck column on the Pariner Berg .
geology
The Pariner Berg is a glacial terminal moraine of the Baltic ridge, typical of the Schleswig-Holstein hill country . It forms the northern boundary of the Lübeck basin and the eastern boundary of the Schwartau glacial valley .
Development
Due to its exposed location, the Pariner Berg was the location of a windmill that housed the Pariner Berg forced labor camp during the Second World War . The last building still standing today is used as a residential building.
The 12.8 meter high Bismarck Column, built around 1901/1902, offers a view of the surrounding area as far as Lübeck , Neustadt , the Lübeck Bay and the hilly landscape of Holstein Switzerland .
About halfway between Groß Parin and the Bismarck Column there is a memorial for the fallen of the First and Second World Wars . Until the beginning of June 2015, the Lübeck radio beacon (LUB) for air traffic control was about halfway between Klein Parin and the Bismarck Column .
