Park Chu-young (born July 10, 1985 in Daegu ) is a South Korean football player who was named the best youth player in 2004 by the AFC .
Career
societies
Park's first season at FC Seoul was very successful, he was named top scorer and best youth player in the K-League . In the following two seasons at FC Seoul, Park Chu-young had to survive a long peat doldrums. When AS Monaco made him an offer in the summer of 2008, he moved to Ligue 1 in France. After relegation with AS Monaco in Ligue 2 , he moved to Arsenal in August 2011 . After a year he was loaned to the Spanish first division club Celta Vigo for the 2012/13 season. On January 31, 2014 Park moved to the end of the season on loan to Watford FC .
After Park was without a club at the beginning of the 2014/15 season, he joined the Saudi Arabian first division club al-Shabab on October 1, 2014 . He moved to only seven appearances for al-Shabab for FC Seoul .
National team
In 2004 he led the Korean national youth football team to their eleventh title at the U-19 Asian football championships . He was also voted the most important player of the tournament. The hysteria surrounding Park Chu-young didn't really break out until 2005 after he had scored nine goals in four games for the U-20 national team at an invitation tournament in Qatar .
After strong performances in his debut year in the K-League, Park was in South Korea's squad at the 2006 World Cup in Germany and was used once. Since he was able to build on his old achievements in Europe, the South Korean national coach Huh Jung-moo brought him back to the national team . Here he scored the 2-0 goal in the game against Saudi Arabia in November 2008. With another goal in June 2009 against the United Arab Emirates , he finally secured his country participation in the World Cup finals in South Africa.
In 2008 and 2012 he was in the squad of the South Korean team for the Olympic Games and was used in all nine games. In the match for third place in 2012, he and his team won the first medal for South Korean football players with the bronze medal, where he scored the first goal in the 2-0 win against Japan . With 3 goals he is together with Lee Chun-soo the best Korean goalscorer at the Olympic Games.
