Pascal Burri

Pascal Burri (born September 4, 1965 in Neuchâtel , Switzerland ) is a Swiss Catholic clergyman and chaplain of the Papal Swiss Guard in the Vatican .

Life

Burri entered the seminary of the diocese of Lausanne, Geneva and Friborg in 1989 and studied religious studies at the theological faculty of the University of Friborg . In 1994 he graduated with a licentiate and was on 21 May 1995 in Basilica of Our Lady of Neuchatel priests ordained.

From 1994 to 1999 he worked as a pastor in Bernex near Geneva, from 1999 to 2005 in Gruyères and then in the pastoral care unit Sainte-Thérèse / Saint-Laurent (parishes of Friborg , Givisiez and Granges-Paccot ). From 1996 to 2004 Burri was an army chaplain in the Swiss Army .

On June 28, 2014, Burri was appointed by Pope Francis to the Guards Chaplain in the Vatican . He has been a Guardian since September 1, 2014, taking over the office of his predecessor Alain de Raemy , who was appointed auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Lausanne, Geneva and Friborg on November 30, 2013 .
