Patrick Sean "Pat" Calathes ( Greek Πατ Καλάθης Pat Kalathis , born December 12, 1985 in Casselberry , United States ) is a former Greek - American basketball player .

Career

Calathes began his career in 2007 at Saint Joseph's University , where he played for two years with the Saint Joseph's Hawks and in 2008 participated in the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship . In the summer of 2008 Calathes signed his first professional contract and moved to the A1 Ethniki for the Greek first division club GS Marousi . In 63 first division games Calathes recorded an average of 4.5 points and 2.3 rebounds . In 2010 he moved prematurely to the league competitor Kolossos Rhodes , where he was promoted to a regular player and was able to increase his statistics significantly (14.3 points and 8.1 rebounds per game). In the 2011/12 season he was under contract with the Greek record champions Panathinaikos Athens and was able to win the Greek club cup there. In the 2012/13 season he won the Israeli championship with Maccabi Haifa . For the 2013/14 season he signed a contract with BK Astana .

In December 2017 he announced his intention to retire from active competitive sports.

National team

In 2011 Calathes made his debut with the Greek national basketball team and took part in the preparation for the 2011 European Championship in Lithuania.
