Patrick Gerald Elynuik (born October 30, 1967 in Foam Lake , Saskatchewan ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player who played for the Winnipeg Jets , Washington Capitals , Tampa Bay Lightning and Ottawa Senators in the National Hockey League during his career .

Career

Pat Elynuik began his career as a hockey player with the Prince Albert Raiders , for which he was active from 1982 to 1987 in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League . With his team he was able to win the President's Cup in the 1984/85 season . As a champion of the WHL, he took part in the Raiders Memorial Cup , the final tournament for the championship of the Canadian Hockey League , and also won this title. In the 1986 NHL Entry Draft , the winger was selected in the first round as the eighth player by the Winnipeg Jets . For the team from Manitoba he played in the National Hockey League over the next five years , and in his first two seasons in Winnipeg's franchise he also worked for their farm team , the Moncton Hawks from the American Hockey League .

On October 1, 1992 Elynuik was made in exchange for John Druce and a four-round vote for the NHL Entry Draft to the Washington Capitals . There he was under contract for a year as well as for their league rivals Tampa Bay Lightning . From 1994 to 1996, the Canadian ran for the Ottawa Senators in the NHL. He also appeared from 1995 until his retirement in 1997 for the Fort Wayne Komets and the Michigan K-Wings in the International Hockey League .

International

For Canada Elynuik took part in the Junior World Cup in 1987 , where he was disqualified with his team due to a mass brawl in the game against Russia .
