Pat J. Renella (born March 24, 1929 in Chicago , Illinois , † November 9, 2012 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor .

Life

The Italian-American Renella made his feature film debut alongside Charles Bronson and David McLean in Richard Donner's science fiction production The X-15 in 1961 . Previously, he had already played minor roles in television productions and in the theater, for example in a 1961 production of Bullfight at the Coronet Repertory Theater on La Cienega Boulevard in West Hollywood.

In his thirty-year film and television career, Renella has often played shady characters such as the mobster John E. Ross in the Steve McQueen thriller Bullitt . His other productions include the agent comedy Derek Flint - hard as flint with James Coburn as the James Bond epigone, the science fiction horror film In the Beyond Hell is Going on with Victor Buono and the spy thriller Quietly whisper the guns . He also took on numerous guest roles in television series such as Mannix , The Boss , The Streets of San Francisco , Cannon , High Chaparral , The Alfred Hitchcock Hour , Hotel , Quincy , Detective Rockford - a call is enough and A Duke rarely comes alone . He played recurring roles as "Roxy" on The New Phil Silver Show and as a psychiatrist "Dr. Bernard Nelson ”at the Soap Opera General Hospital . His last television appearance was in 1991 as a bartender in an episode of the crime series A Blessed Team .

Renella, who was a member of the Screen Actors Guild for over 50 years , died on November 9, 2012 after an extended illness at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
