Pativilca is a city in the province of Barranca in the Lima region of central western Peru . Pativilca is the seat of the district of the same name . The city had 11,467 inhabitants at the 2017 census. Ten years earlier the population was 11,398. The freedom fighter Simón Bolívar spent several months in a house in Pativilca in 1824 before going to the battles of Junín and Ayacucho . This house was furnished with historical furniture and now serves as a museum.

Geographical location

The city of Pativilca, 76 m above sea level, is 3.5 km from the Pacific coast north of the mouth of the Río Pativilca . The cities of Paramonga (4 km northwest) and Barranca (6.5 km south) are in the vicinity . Irrigated agriculture is practiced in the vicinity of the city. The national road 1N ( Panamericana ) leads west past Pativilca.
