Patricia Collinge
Patricia Collinge (born September 20, 1892 in Dublin as Eileen Cecilia Collinge , † April 10, 1974 in New York City ) was an Irish actress .
biography
Patricia Collinge gained her first stage experience at the age of 12 when she took on a role in the play Little Black Sambo . She continued her beginning acting career on Broadway , where she was continuously cast in various plays from 1908.
In 1941 she took on her first film role in William Wyler's Die kleine Füchse . She had already participated in the theater play of the same name on Broadway in 1939 and took on the same role in the film that earned her a nomination in the category Best Supporting Actress at the 1942 Academy Awards . In 1943 she took on a supporting role in Alfred Hitchcock's In the Shadow of Doubt . Seven years later she gave an excellent and shivering performance as the super mother in Fred Zinnemann's social drama Teresa . In the following years she played again on Broadway and increasingly took over roles in television series such as Alfred Hitchcock Presents or East Side / West Side . In 1967 she stood in front of the camera for the last time.
Collinge married James Nichols Smith in 1921. She died in 1974 of complications from a heart attack .
