Patricia Field (* 1941 in New York City ) is an American costume designer, stylist and fashion designer. She is best known for the costumes for the successful series Sex and the City and the movie The Devil Wears Prada , for which she received an Oscar nomination. The daughter of Greek and Armenian parents who immigrated to the USA , she was born in New York City and grew up in Astoria, Queens . She is the founder and owner of the Patricia Field boutique in 302 Bowery Manhattan .

Career

Field started her boutique in 1966. She first met Sarah Jessica Parker while filming the comedy Miami Rhapsody (1995) . The actress was so enthusiastic about Fields' collections and work that they became friends.

Before filming the first season of the hit HBO series Sex and the City , Sarah Jessica Parker asked Patricia Field to design some of the costumes for her role as Carrie Bradshaw . With the success of the series, her extraordinary costume creations also gained increasing attention. She won one of five Emmy nominations and four of six Costume Designers Guild Awards nominations for her work on Sex an the City . Patricia Field is one of six titleholders at the 2008 Reel Time Film Festival. Not only in New York's high society there was now a high demand for her collections, which gave some of her creations a high level of awareness. In television, she worked for series such as Hope & Faith and Alles Betty! away. Another success was the costume design for the film The Devil Wears Prada , for which she received an Oscar nomination for best costume design.

For many years Patricia Field was in a relationship with Rebecca Weinberg, who also worked as a costume designer, with whom she worked on the sets of Sex an the City and Chaos City . Patricia Field was the first guest judge on the first season of the Bravo reality television series Project Runway . She also designed the costumes for three music videos by artist Namie Amuro . From 23 September 2008, the TV broadcaster HSNtv will also be equipped by her.
