Ždaňa (until 1927 in Slovak "Ždáňa"; in Hungarian Hernádzsadány - until 1902 Zsadány ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia .
geography
The municipality is located at the foot of the Slanské vrchy mountains in Košická kotlina ( Kosice Basin ) on the Hornád , about 15 kilometers from Košice , near the border with Hungary .
history
The oldest surviving mention of the community, as Sudan , comes from 1222 .
In the 19th and 20th centuries , the place was the seat of a chair district administration within the Hungarian Abaúj-Torna county .
Until 1918 the community in Abaúj-Torna County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to the newly founded Czechoslovakia . Due to the First Vienna Arbitration , it briefly belonged back to Hungary from 1938 to 1945.
