Obišovce (up to 1954 "Obyšovce"; Hungarian subscriptions ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 481 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) that the okolie Kosice Okres , part of kraj Košický heard.

The community is located in the northern reaches of the basin Košická kotlina , at the mouth of Svinka in the Hornád . The immediate vicinity of the built-up area is hilly, while further to the west it is characterized by the mountains of Čierna hora and covered by beech forest. The Torysa , which flows parallel to Hornád, runs about three kilometers east of the village . The town center is located at an altitude of 279  m nm and is 20 kilometers from Prešov and 22 kilometers from Košice .

Neighboring communities are Ličartovce in the north, Drienov in the east, Lemešany in the southeast, Kysak in the south and southwest and Ve Südká Lodina and Ľubovec in the west.

history

Restored remains of the medieval castle

Uncovered finds from the Bronze Age , Hallstatt Age and Roman Age show that there was an ancient settlement in the area at the mouth of the Svinka. There was also a settlement from the time of the Moravian Empire .

Today's place was first mentioned in writing in 1289 as a trolleybus . A stone castle from the 13th century stood north of Obišovce until the 15th century. At the time of the first written record, the village was owned by the Aba dynasty, other lords came from the noble family of Budimír and from the Somosy dynasty (up to the 16th century). From the 17th to the 19th century, families like Segney, Sztáray, Görgey, Károlyi, Okolicsányi, Máriássy and Péchy were landlords. In 1828 there were 84 houses and 612 residents who were employed as lumberjacks and farmers.

Until 1918/1919 the place in Sáros County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Obišovce had 422 inhabitants, 398 of whom were Slovaks , two Magyars and two Czechs and one Moravian and one Russian . One resident indicated a different ethnic group and 23 residents gave no information about the ethnic group .

257 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church, 98 residents the Evangelical Church AB, 11 residents the Greek Catholic Church, two residents the Bahaitum and one resident each for the Orthodox Church and the Reformed Church. 30 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 22 residents was not determined.

Obišovce itself is located at the intersection of two 3rd order streets, so you can get to Kysak , Ruské Pekľany or Lemešany ; at the latter location there is a connection to the Cesta I. triedy 20 and the D1 motorway ( E 50 ).

To the east of the town center there is a stop on the Kysak – Muszyna railway , and there is also a connection to the Košice – Žilina railway at Kysak station, two kilometers away .
